Centrestage Youth Theatre
On Saturday the 17th April 2010, a meeting was held at Centrestage Theatre to determine interest from parents & future students about forming a group which commits to meeting once a month for approx three hours. The aim would be to enable students to learn all aspects of theatre performance and production from experienced Actors/Actresses, Directors, Choreographers, Musicians and Technical Personnel.
As a result of this meeting “Centrestage Youth Theatre” or CYT was established and the first workshop was held on 22nd May 2010.
Each workshop guides students in all aspects of theatre, which will help assist with enrolments and applications in the many performing arts schools in NZ where entry is by audition only
Students will embark on learning songs from musical theatre, choreographed routines, drama, comedy skits, and also take part in workshops on costume design, set construction, sound & lighting design.
We have an impressive list of Guest Tutors and Mentors who have expressed their interest in supporting this long overdue concept. By combining their skills and knowledge in presenting exciting workshops throughout the year.
Monthly sessions will be held on a Saturday (subject to theatre availability), or on a Sunday as an alternative. We have been overwhelmed by applicants and to-date we have 65+ members.
Registration forms & Centrestage Theatre Membership forms are available from the Box office Monday to Friday 10am-2pm & Saturday 10am-12pm
